How affirmations of resilience continue giving me courage
remission, positive affirmations

I was going through my journal a few weeks ago - a compilation of thoughts while in cancer treatment - and was so humbled by what I was reading. Many fears were put down on paper but even more feelings of hope, courage, health and strength.
What I was reading were not just thoughts and feelings but self-encouragement and many affirmations. I was my own mama bear - protective, caring, loving while gently pushing myself out of suffering. The resiliency that shone through great adversity had such an incredible energetic charge.
Mindset is critical when facing a serious medical condition. My goal upon recovery was to become a better human; to share my story and inspire others. Little did I know that a “better human” meant connecting not just with all the good this life can offer but also with deep human suffering. It meant carrying an ocean of empathy and kindness and see people for who they are. Listen to their story and recognize the ebb and flow of life with all of its residual joy and scars.
Affirmations of resiliency and healing were an opportunity for me to reset the narrative in my mind when I was feeling trapped and full of fear. In this post, I would like to share some of these affirmations with you:
*I am well and empowered
*I have the privilege and energy to do anything that inspires me today
*I have a permission to do nothing, if that's what I wish
*I welcome this time of healing with open arms, mind and heart
*Now is filled with incredible opportunities; I don't need to wait till tomorrow
*I embrace the changes that are ever present in my life; I adjust easily to everything that comes my way
*I choose to see the big, beautiful picture of my life and this healing time is just a small but important part of my existence
*I am in charge of my life through inner strength that is unwavering
*I am in excellent health and I accept it now
*I deserve a fulfilling, long life and I accept it now
How can one not feel inspired about the resilience of human-ness after reading these affirmations? How can one not keep going knowing that there is the end to suffering and a chance for new beginnings and perspectives?
I often forget to take joy in the fact that I am in remission because the true joy is the thick skin that I built through facing adversity and the scars that now let me understand others a little bit better. Being in remission is a consequence of relentless hope and determination in the actions taken to get well.
It is my deepest wish that those who are healing from a serious condition find affirmations that keep bringing them back to the path of personal resilience. The affirmations that fill my journal are just as relevant now as they were during my cancer treatments because life keeps going, even in remission.
In abundant health,
Valerie
